Most of the team members are currently en route to Kenya from various areas of the US. Travel typically requires ~ 24 hours of flight time and approximately 36 hours of travel. Passport, Kenyan Visa, and as of January 8: the new required UK ESTA when traveling through Great Britain (Fun fact to learn when traveling on January 9 for some of us!) are all key documents to legally get our feet on the ground in Africa.
For Danna and Beth, the trip is already proving to grow patience, humor, and adventure. We conquered the ESTA visa approval to fly through the UK within a few hours of our application, only to arrive at London Heathrow delayed and missed the connecting flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Beth continues to have a gift of seeing stressful situations as a comedy and shines her faith in His plan and His timing with her “what are you gonna do?” spirit. We will now fly to Dubai and eventually board one more plane to hit the next continent. We hope to arrive in Nairobi by 6am local time on Saturday Jan 11, take our domestic flight to Eldoret Saturday afternoon, and drive to Iten. We will see what God has in store for the adventures to come!
Dr. Chad Carlson and son, Eli are already warming up the Kenyan soil for the rest of us…taking in God’s beauty and wildlife!
Prayer requests:
For safe flights and travel for all team members between now and Saturday afternoon.
Continued patience and sense of calm in the crazy of international travel and the big and little things not in our control.
Adventure on!
